Haruha Raharu

Hello, I'm new there

Well, as I said to the admin, time ago I was planning with friends to do a game that was inspired in silent hill, Darkseed (anybody remembers it?) and some others...I was the musician, but this project died because we are not programmers and it's too difficult...but I made many tunes just by fun and I keep making some others sometimes (also, I did some monster designs, but this is another history)

Well, I've uploaded them, just to share, give opinions

Used;

*Reason 2.0 on PC (I use mac now)
*a few music samples of Doom64 (SAMPLES, that is INSTRUMENTS, not song parts!), doom 3 and silent hill wich have been ripped with a utility, for experimenting (the majority such as breathes are mine)
*personal boring, some milkshakes and my room at dark :D

many of them have breathes as samples because it was planned that, when you enter the "dark world", you would hear them, as a "signal" that you are in another dimension, through the mirrors, concretely.

Don't be cruel, please XDD, they are practically experiments that allowed me to learn Reason, and to create dark ambient music

HOW TO DOWNLOAD THEM!!!

http://raharucobain.iespana.es/apartment02 players of DooM64 would recognice some samples here, I like this one ^^
http://raharucobain.iespana.es/camping_forest intended to ambient a foggy forest and an abandoned camping, like one that I used to go called "el toro bravo"
http://raharucobain.iespana.es/street01 foggy streets, silent hill style
http://raharucobain.iespana.es/street02 more foggy streets, but close to your next objective
http://raharucobain.iespana.es/subway01 nuff said, underground ambiences, a short loop
http://raharucobain.iespana.es/subway02 more like previous
http://raharucobain.iespana.es/subway_enemiesquite bad and noisy, but curious....
http://raharucobain.iespana.es/hospital_reception one of the best in my opinion
http://raharucobain.iespana.es/alternate_hospital metallic ambience
http://raharucobain.iespana.es/alternate_hospital_2ond Floor a short loop, but I like it, more breathes (those are from...CACODEMONS OF DOOM 3...but equalized and changed XDDD)
http://raharucobain.iespana.es/hospital_alternate_basement probably my best track
http://raharucobain.iespana.es/school_entrance_hall a short loop, to be listened as an intro of the level
http://raharucobain.iespana.es/school_1st_floor the follow-up of the previous
http://raharucobain.iespana.es/school_2nd_floor closer to enemies, but not facing them...
http://raharucobain.iespana.es/sewers01 just sewers...the most "silenthill-ish" that I've done :P

well, probably more to come...and if anybody speaks spanish, I'm from Barcelona ;)

I speak spanish, My family is mostly from Tijuana. I think i'm going to make an account called Toaster.

KageOni

Whats with all the people who speak Spanish?

what ever.

Humm, music in this game. Music could be good, but the sound of your lonely footsteps are pretty scary too.

Don't forget the noise mixed with heartbeat or sounds of machinery. That stuff rocks.

Hmm... doppler's effect would make a really psychotic and scary effect, when applied on few fast moving objects, which can make harm.

Speaking about sound which I would like for this game, I agree that music should be present but its role would be to only express game better, which won't leave much place for a long music pieces, as the game isn't big as well. I'd count it to the sound effects rather. For instance, one glisando in strings would do a pretty scary effect when electric energy dissapear in the first corridor. Imagine that player be attacked at the same time. :)

Now is too late to listen the music, but I might do it later. ;)

Hmm.. cant quite get it to work.. when i open it, windows media player automatically starts.. but it says it cant play the file... Also, when i go to save target as... gives me a 404 error... Weird..
plz help, i really want to hear these...

Indrek

Yep, same here. I only tried a couple of the first ones, but they all gave the 404 Not Found error.

Monkey#101

I just downloaded Subway2 and it worked just fine for me. It gave me mutliple choice of one and then when I clicked the mp3 quicktime started playing it in my browser. I use firefox, I just click file/save pag as... and I can save it.

I like it. It seems like it would be a good fit with a game like this.

Update: I downloaded and listened to the first two as well. They sound good. At one point I thought I heard a bit of popping in the first track, but it was minor. It could have been my speakers.

Indrek

Indeed, it works with Firefox, but not with IE. Weird...

Haruha Raharu

Thanks for the comments ^.^. Well, in fact, I'll try to find a big server to upload them, because Iespana don't let you download MP3 or zips, so, you have to do this "trick", something that pisses me off :P

For MRBean1112;
select the underlined text and copy it, then paste in the explorer url bar, you see that famous mesage of "multiple choices", the link that you'll see it's to download.

By the way, some songs are too charged of basses, I didn't controled well the sound when I created (n00b's mistakes ^^U), but some of them are intended to be listened with earphones...also, yes, firefox is recommended to download, don't ask me why IE don't work

Also, something true, sometimes good ambient sounds and footsteps are better than music. I heard that when Trent Reznor was working in the Doom 3 music it was intended to be ALL orchestrated, your footsteps, your shots, enemies, ambients, etc...would be part of the music, similar to the "interactive music" of Zelda WW, but with sounds....but finally Reznor stopped the project, a pity

Indrek

There's a few places that allow you to upload your music. http://www.soundclick.com is one of them.
But before you join, make sure you read through the terms of service, because they tend to reserve the rights to use your uploaded music in derivative works and such. Not that they do it all the time, but still, better to know it beforehand than afterwards.
