I am attempting to create a mod for penumbra Overture (episode 1) using objects found in the tech demo and Penumbra Overture.
I have no modding experience, but I am slowly learning.
Because of this, I'll tend to have alot of questions.
When a question is answered, the answer will be put up with the question to help other people who have the same questions.

Quote:Question 1 [6-4-07]
-What developing tool do the developers use? Is it recommended to use the same version, or use the most current version?
Quote:Question 2 [6-4-07]
-How difficult is it to create animations? (I might attempt to finish the demon man from the tech demo)

Quote:Question 3 [6-4-07]
-How difficult is it to create codes for penumbra (level codes, such as making a light flicker, or scripted events) Do you need to know some scripting language (excluding penumbra code) before attempting to mod penumbra?

Quote:Question 4 [6-4-07]
-What is the best to create 'flowing' water? To create a particle that looks like water? To create some special effect that physics controls? (I'm not sure if that's possible actually)
Answer: Create a particle that is slightly transparent that resembles water flowing.
Quote:Question 5 [6-4-07]
-How do I import textures (from penumbra) to Maya 8.5 (educational version)
Answer: When applying a texture to an object, you simply choose the location of the file on the computer.

Quote:Question 6 [6-4-07]
-How do I put [imported] textures on an object?

My first model D:
Obviously it's pretty crappy, and only 5 different shapes, but it's a start. =]
Now I need to learn how to add custom skins to that =[
Looks good if it's your first one! :)
Can anyone answer my questions?
I can create models now, but I can not attach textures to them. =[
Wow, someone without any moding experience who doesn't have any help is making a Penumbra mod? That's pretty impressive.
Ya, it's been rough. Learning to model wouldn't have been too difficult if the devolopers actually gave a damn about people with modding questions about penumbra =/
