Full Version: Worst combat system I've ever seen

Subject says it all. I am at the spot where you open the electric gate with the code...and I've died so far a total of 4 times by that dog. If you're not going to give me ranged weapons at LEAST give me something decent for melee. This "click and hold and swing" junk flat out stinks. Not to mention mouselook is locked while you're in your "click/hold/swing" routine making tracking your target almost impossible. Rest of the game has been fun....mood/look/feel/atmosphere, but just dying over and over and over again....it's not fun...it's not a challenge...it's annoying and frustrating. And if a game isn't fun, why bother?

Lemme know when you change to a real combat system (how about click and swing), THEN I'll give it another go. Until then, uninstalling is next on my list.
Hopefully This helps you!

I don't know what it does in real game but maybe you can check it out...
I can understand your point of view. It's not your average shoot 'em up game, but this isn't that kind of a game. It's a suspense/adventure/puzzle game. yes, there is combat; but the game is not based on it.
The thing that I don't agree with you is it is challenging if you don't know how to attack/kill the dogs. It's real simple to me, but I use a marble mouse (where the ball is on top; the logitech has a great one).
sorry to hear though. but i agree, if you can't enjoy it, why have it? this is why I don't deal with modern console systems. too many buttons. too confusing.
An idea could be to try and avoid the combat Smile
I really like the idea that Developers delete all 'tools' (pick axe, hammer etc.) from the game!

Ok that TOTALLY helped out and has made this game fun again. I think what I appreciate most is the fact that there's an option for it. Always frustrating when a developer forces you to play it "their" way. Thanks for the link Smile

I sort of understand your view. I choose the easiest difficulty in 99% of the game I play (only game I played on hard on a regular basis was doom and that was "Ultra Violence" (one away from the hardest 'Nightmare')).
For me anyways, I tend to like the scenery, the drama or whatever in games, and sometimes find it annoying (sometimes that is), to have to shoot down enemies to progress. although having no enemies can make it boring. but, I choose easy for those reasons.

But it not ever possible! Sad

Anyway, the trik of the "set SimpleWeaponSwing to true" could be damn useful!!!!

I like the physics in the game, and the point is to avoid combat. But it would have been nice if you could have picked up a pipe with your hands and swing it like the pick axe or hammer, if you know what I mean. If not... I don't care ^^ and you just wasted a couple of seconds reading this...
