while I was looking around the internet I found these 2 things. does this free game have anything to do with Overture and Black Plague? also why would the newer 1.1 version be 40mb smaller than the original free game?

yes that has something to do with these two penumbras! This , what you found there, is the tech demo of penumbra, it has also a own story and some other monsters like the overture but it is pritty nice. There is only one problem with it , i cant play it couse there are some annoing texture issues, like some textures are disappiering! You should download and try the version 1.1

I think the version 1.1 is just compressed better. Version 1.1 also includes various fixes.
