ok for guys using 3dsmax,8 or 7, this is the right importer exporter. there is a txt file explaining how to use it, well just have a read through here.

ok heres also some things that you might need to know when using max

* For models, make sure you "reset Xform"

* For level details and portals, like a pipe or box ect, reset Xform, then turn on gizmo, and make sure the gizmo center is centered to the world, "0,0,0"

* also when exporting, uncheck "Object Space" im not sure if you have to.

* For collision meshes, from what ive tested, you dont need to reset xform, also the center for this should be relative to the object not world

* When creating objects like playerstart, or area links, make sure you use a standard box, dont convert it to mesh, and dont center it! it will crash the game

here would be the are with the 3ds max tips & tricks Smile
the tutorials are aimed at a general 3d modeling program but each program is different, so i hope this would be usefull (and allso hope there comes threads like these for other programsSmile)
i dont know much about 3ds max (just getting started Wink) but here is something i found (realy easyToungue):
* to make the _collision_x_x node you first need to convert it to an editable mesh and then clone it Smile

I just clicked on 2nd tab in and renamed it ...

same...And editable poly is better than editable mesh. Always use editable poly.

When i tried to export a collada model using 3dstudio 8, always get the same error in HPL:

ERROR: Couldn't create material '.mat'
ERROR: Couldn't create material '' for object ''

What's wrong with materials? Sad

Thanks, but yeah, i did.

I open HPL Help. Load tut_woodbox.dae and i can see the cube textured. Right. So, I imported the tut_wood_box model from tutorial 1 into 3d Max 8, then, without changes, I export it into collada format again. Then, when i tried to load it with HPL Help, the thing crash. Also HPL.log said what i wrote before.
Hmm.. might be some strangeness with a new collada version. Please upload the dae file and I will check.
