Ok, Thomas, I've downloaded the game, I must say the shoots of the
game where amazing, so I thought, why not, and I downloaded
"ver 1.1 full install", well I've installed the game and ran it for the first
time, so, I saw the first loading screen (which comes before the main
menu) then I've started a new game, there was an intro (beutyfull, I
must say) then showed the loading screen, and boom, without any error
it crashed to the Desktop.

My system specs are:
Petium 3 1.13 Ghz
nVidia GeForce 4 Ti 4200
512 SD-RAM PC-133
Sound Blaster live! 5.1 Digital
40 GB Maxtor HD

the log is attached, to the thread, any-way, I just want to help you
as it might help some other people who might encounter the same
probleme with the game, good luck on fixing this one.
edit--
log deleted, served its purpose
Are you using the latest drivers? If not, please update and try again.

The problem is that vertex buffer objects are not supported and this is most likely a driver issue.

Thomas, I tested the game last night, I had an issue with the DEMO of
Prey, it just crashed with a "Don't Send" error, then I sad, maybe if I
update the drivers then it will work, the only reasone that I didn't update
my drivers is becuase a BSOD (which even nVidia couldn't find a solution
for it), when ever I install a new driver I restart my PC and when I boot
to the desktop, afew seconds later it freezes, first the keyboard and
then the mouse, so the only driver that I could use was the 42.86, now,
after spending some time in reading some of the posts, I found one in
which a user has sad that the ver. 9x.xx is not compatible with
Penumbra, so I've downloaded the 81.95 drivers and (tfu, tfu, tfu
touch-wood) it booted without any problemes, today morrning, I started
Penumbra, and it worked like a charm, and Prey, which I tought would
run like Quake 4, seemed to work even better then it, and even better
then DooM III (Which I left aside, so I can play it when I get me self a
new computer in 2 months from now :\).

PS:
1)The BSOD, would say that the file nv4_disp.dll is stuck in an infinite loop.
2)I recommande this site for NViDIA drivers, it helped me alot.
Great that you got it working!

I have a similar problem:

I downloaded the full 1.1 install file.
First it doesn't even loaded the game, i double clicked on its shortcut and nothing happened. Then i updated nvidia drivers to 91.31 and then it ran.

"Loading Screen", "Main Menu", "Intro", "Loading Screen" -> and then it plays a background music but the screen stay black all the time and nothing happens, i must close the program with ctrl alt spr.

I tried installing 81.95 nvidia drivers like ViDER do but nothing changes. I set all the graphic options to off and lowest.
I know that my PC it's not so big but it meets the requirments.

Windows XP SP2 with all updates
Athlon XP 2000+ 1.6ghz
512 MB RAM
ABIT Siluro / nVidia GeForce4 MX 460pro 64mb

have DirectX 9.0c does that matter?

I read someplace that Penumbra now runs on GF4... id really want to try the game. is there any chance?
Sorry but Penumbra won't run on GeForce MX cards. We should have specified the 4 with a Ti I think :/
