I'm starting to learn the ways of the force right now. It's a very good engine, i love it. And with all my favourite tools, I guess I could make some pretty big levels.
using a 3 program stage method, I can
Make levels in Unreal Editor(Much easier for me than 3ds max)
Copy over to 3ds max, re-texture for Penumbra.
And copy it over into Penumbra with the HPL thingy.

I'm currently on chapter 2 on pre-tuts, but I am stuck, It says
"Now extract/separate the faces. If done right all the sides of the cube should be separate objects that you can select. "
But i have absoulutly no idea which option you use in modifyer in 3ds max to do this. I am Using 3ds max 7. I have already flipped the normals so I can see inside.
Sorry for spelling, I never really was a star in my English class...still am'nt :D

Thanks in advance!

You need to detach the polygons.
Click the select polygon tool and select a polygon. Then under Edit Geometry there should be a button called Detach and it should convert the side to a new object.
Name the new object something logical or it will get confusing in the end :)

Ahh thx!

Another problem(Yes i'm a noob)
The lights, It says i have to scale them, I set my light as omni, So would it matter?
Chaos: you have to set them to omni
and for the scale: in the tut they say to use a scale of 5, in 3ds max you have to use 500 then

MyWorldOfChaos

Ahh, I will try this out now. Thanks!

I really hate all these alignments i have to make for portals. Is there an easy way of doing this? I only do it by hand and it is a real pain.
there is no easy way of doing the portals.
i allso still have problems making them.
tip (from jens): you have to put the 2 portals so that there is little to no space between them.
btw, did the light tingy work?

MyWorldOfChaos

Yes my lights do work, very well! Thank you!
