So I opened the door that requires the security card, and there was a short cinematic and then the game appeared to be over. It didn't say "Game Over" or anything, it just kicked me out to the main menu. Is that it? (I know it's a free game, so I shouldn't expect a huge game, but it was just very unexpected.)

oh, its not gameover. This is just the beginning. Even if the producers don't want to continue it, modders out there can. But, the producers should run a competion, and pick who they think is the best to continue the story.
well, thomas said in a different thread that they want to continue penumbra :)

btw, penumbra is not a beggining, just a techdemo that is a realy good game :)

I was dissapointed at the sudden game over, but I guess that explains why the game is only 150 MB. I like the way Frictionalgames made this, it's like one of those old point-and-click puzzle games only it's more interactive, I would like to see even more interaction though, it would be really cool if you had to actually pull the handles of the doors to open them and if you could press individual buttons on a tape recorder or soemthing useing the physics also I think it would be a cool idea if you could be able to set it so one of your hands is griping soemthing and then use the other hand to do other things like rip the object open open. This is a great start though, I am glad I took the time to download this game even if I don't really favor scary games (I get too freaked out sometimes)

yea it stinks that its over... but this was a demo.. hopefully they do plan on "finishing" penumbra. ALso it would be pretty cool to make mods for this game and then make guns be in it.. but im afraid i dont have the time/patience to build stuff for this engine.. plus, you have to provide ur own 3d editor program. I'm not going to go buy any...... I have this one 3d program called anim8or but i dont know if it would work for penumbra.
oh and the answer to the first guy's post... yes, that is the end. still pretty cool for a very short demo.
