I really do not know if this has been a problem stated before on the forum, but I have installed the demo, and the 1.1 patch, and the game will still go to a black screen before returning back to windows. If this has been explained before, sorry for wasting time and effort.

System Specs.

AMD Turion 64 ML-34 1.8
ATI Radeon Xpress200 -- Fully updated drivers
1 gig ram
OS: Windows Vista Business Edition, full build, fully licensed.

Windows Vista may be the problem, but my version is a fully licensed finished version of Vista... If anyone can provide a push in the right direction, that would be great, thanks!

try reinstalling penumbra and apply the patch :)
Try NOT installing the patch ;) The version you downloaded should already be the latest.

Great, I'll try that, thank you!

Ok, I tried that, I installed the 1.1 full version, and started it again, and it did the same thing again, the screen just blinks black for a few times, and goes back to windows.  I uninstalled and tried again, with the same results.  This time however, a SDL_app window appeared in my toolbar, and that did not happen before.  I'll add the log, as before.
Thanks.

Ha very strange! :) Now suddenly you support nothing. I think there must have been a hpl.log being package with the 1.1 release :P That is the only way the strange log you got was created.

Quote:Two sided stencil: 0
Vertex Buffer Object: 0
Anisotropic filtering: 0
Multisampling: 0

Fragment Program: 0
NV Register Combiners: 0
NV Register Combiners Stages: 11
ATI Fragment Shader: 0

This means that you card support, em nothing... which your card should not. This must be a driver problem. Either the latest Vista drivers for your card is not really good, or you simply do not have the latest drivers.

Ha! Yes, it is not true, my card does support... vision, so yes, it must be bad drivers. Hopefully ATI will come through, and have some updates when Vista has it's full release.

Thanks again everybody, I'll look for better drivers in a week or two!
