Hi, to whom-ever reads this message.

I recently installed Penumbra after a 2 day battle of downloading, aventually and finally i noticed an icon on my desktop after installation, i was so happy.

I double clicked the icon and it starts up, i am more happy.

The screen is black and i wait, the screen changes and 1 second later i am back on my desktop. I thought I might have done something wrong so I try again, but the black screen appears again and back I am on my desktop. I tried and tried but always the same thing just keeps happening, I can not get the game to start.

Can anyone PLEASE help me solve this mystery. I will really deeply appreciate your help.

Well you'll need to tell us your computer specs(I won't be able to help on if they're powerful enough to run the game, or what you need to do in order to know them)
But if your computer is more than 3-4 years old, chancies are it won't run it.
You need (I believe) 500+ ram
Likely a 64mb+ video card(might be 126 video)
No clue on the processor, there's several people that will be able to help you better.

Usually, this happens because you have old graphics card drivers. So try and update your graphics card drivers and see if that helps.
