Please tell us what you thought was the scariest things to happen in Penumbra: Overture - Episode One. Remember that your feedback will help shape the upcoming episodes!
Awesome you already have a feedback forum. Good on you!
At first I was afraid of what might lerk around the corner but once I got used to the game nothing really scared me.
The scripted stuff, definately! The stuff that has happened to me so far has caught me really off-guard. :)
I didn't like hiding: I can't stand the tension so I kept jumping out and beating up what I could with my hammer. :O However, when faced with multiple foes or something HUGE... this method really isn't feasable, is it? ;) Those are the really frightening moments.
Chased by enemies, definetely. My heart was racing when I was running from those dogs, knowing that nothing I had in my inventory could possibly kill them. (Except dynamite, but those don't stick to them.
Scripted events, no doubt. The enemies weren't really that scary because they were just the same dogs over and over again. After you got used to them, that is.
However, they still managed to scare me a few times xD This one time I was running away from a dog and hid in a room... Then I tried to block the door, the dog jumped against it and I kept pushing, and though I'd managed to keep it out... But then I looked behind me and there it was xD
Overall, it wasn't too scary... Not that I don't like that: I prefer that than it being like CoC: Dark Corners of the Earth or FEAR xD
Beeing chased by enemies wasn't scary, beucause the enemies were not scary, but everything else (listening to the sounds, reading notes and scripted events) was really, really scary. To make this game even more scary, you should make more evil looking enemies, like mutated mine workers or something. I also learned how to kill a wolf with the pickaxe, so I just killed every wolf that came into my way. You should make the combat more impossible
I usually find the environment scary... assuming it's well made. The enemies (dogs, spiders) were more of an annoyance.
Also, is "running from enemies" supposed to mean "running from dogs / spiders"? If so, then no, it's not scary. I mostly killed them (the first, scripted run from the spiders was very nice tho; where you'd block holes and mash at the wall with the pick like crazy).
All in all, I'd like the second part to have less stalking around, and more scary mood. That'd be awesome. The scripted events are also nice (again, assuming they're well made).
