Heres my deal: I played on the lowest graphical settings cause my compy isn't that great and i just realized i never once used the flashlight\glowstick\flares to see. Did i miss out on some super-scary atmosphere?
Yes, you did. Most areas are pitch black on highest settings.
Turning the shaders on makes a huge difference. Turning resolutions on the lowest setting allows more graphic settings turned on (at least I believe)
AWWWWWWW DAMNIT!!!!!!!! I'm gonna do EP2 the spooky way :'(
If its any comfort I didnt do it the spooky way either. My gamma was at 2.0

lol. :P

Ugh, hardly... I'll live though :p
I rarely used my light sources either. Most of the time I trusted on Philips almost superhuman nightvision.
I'd love to be able to see in the dark that well just by crouching :D
I went back and set the detail up (turns out i wasn't givin' my compy enough credit) MUCH SCARIER!!
i used the glowstick most of the time and flashlight only for direct objects. The flashlight seems to be mroe of a defense against spiders than anything else. Most areas are quite long so the light of a flashlight doesn't illuminate the area very well. I used flares only for long drops like the area w/ the generator battery.

I hope in ep2 they re-imagine the use of the flashlight because by the end of the game I had 100% battery from rarely using it. The flashlight should be powerful enough to light up dark areas much more effectively than the glowstick while also being your defense against spiders. That way, it's a toss up of resources that the player must choose between.
yeah, thats a complaint definently, i rarely need to pick up batteries.

(also i edited my save file cause i was bored. 1000 dynamite, 1000 flares, 1000 pain pills, 100 beef jerky. Watch out doggies)
