I personally used this tutorial to learn how to use virtualdub: the program is not really user friendly XP

I use Sony Vegas Pro 10 whenever I edit videos.

It has a lot of editing choices, but if you plan on editing Amnesia/Penumbra stuff then you really don't need to use the majority that the program has to offer. And it is expensive to buy too. You can get a 30 day free trial though.
