RE: SOPA. Have you heard?
Megaupload is down, I find it incredibly stupid because that site had a lot of legitimate users, I guess just a few bad users spoiled the rest of them.

And by the way, those who think SOPA/PIPA is not a big deal really need a reality check. Just sayin'. If SOPA/PIPA goes through, this forum will have some great deal of peeling off a lot of topics, Youtube is going to be restricted, Wikipedia is going to be restricted, Tumblr, Reddit, a lot of internet forums that we love, most comic sites, DeviantArt, the list goes on, is going to be restricted.

I don't live in the US so I'm not going to be directly affected by this next thing but a lot of users are located in the states and all they can look forward to is a lot of blocked sites (unless you have the actual IP, then all is fine, just a little loophole in the law) unless we do something about it.

All because of facking money, dominance and cencorship.

Anonymous didn´t take the Megaupload take down nicely. They´ve shut down the websites of MPAA, RIAA,, Department of Justice etc.
Don´t know if this is the right way to do it tho... even if I hope that the publishers and politicians will burn for their greed

Huh?

The MSM didn't pick up on SOPA until a few days ago, after it being around for the last like month and some.

It took MSNBC's youngest (and cutest) host to bring it up, and then the rest of the MSM followed suit.

As far as the media goes over here in the UK, very little has been spread around in newspapers or on TV.

Those of you saying we're worrying for nothing can say that but in reality, if the support isn't there from the people then the bill may pass, and then you won't be thinking the same.

The time to act is now.

Hmm? I can't tell if you proved my point or not (though the only thing making it confusing is my ignorance of "MSM"'s news; otherwise, i don't see how your statement would deny mine).

RE: SOPA. Have you heard?
I signed the petiton, and I got an exciting email this afternoon!
SOPA and PIPA were dropped by Congress today.
13 million of us took the time to tell Congress to protect free speech rights on the Internet. Hundreds of millions of people saw the black-outs on the 18th.
The email states:
"The MPAA was shocked and seemingly humbled. "This was a whole new different game all of a sudden,' MPAA Chairman and former Senator Chris Dodd told the New York Times. '[PIPA and SOPA were] considered by many to be a slam dunk."
"This altogether is a new effect,' Mr. Dodd said, comparing the online movement to the Arab Spring. He could not remember seeing 'an effort that was moving with this degree of support change this dramatically' in the last four decades, he added."

Congratulations guys! We did it! :] Though SOPA and PIPA may come back in some form, we'll be ready!

Uhm they'll just wait a year and try to push something else shitty like they've done for the last two decades.

Seriously this is pretty far from a victory lol, the copyright crooks already have way too much power.

Yeah, we´re far from a victory. The MPAA are only trying to do some kiss ass hoping that people will have forgotten this the next time they pay congress huge amounts off money to accept some shitty bill. The MPAA was shocked but not humbled, they are angry. Remember these kind of people are not used to be told no
