Crashes when I run it.

So I just downloaded the demo of this game and installed. How ever when I run it the screen goes black for a second and then a message box comes up and says the game crashed. I'm running Windows Vista Home edition and my computer meets the requirements for the game to run. I also tried installing the patch at the top of the page but that didn't do anything.

What video card do you have? Are you sure you have the latest drivers for it?

I'm using a NVIDIA GeForce 8300 GS, and I have the latest drivers for it. Even if it was the wrong graphics card it wouldn't crash on start up. I just got this computer new and I've tried this demo before on my older computer. It would get to the part after the little introduction story and say Loading..., then freeze.

Nope, This is a pretty new computer and I haven't put much on it.

only reason I'm asking is, if other games work but this doesn't, it may be a problem with penumbra and/or vista, it being not compatible with vista , but I think it is, at least according to amazon.com.
if no games work, it may be a graphical issue

It should be work very well on Vista. No, idea why it will not work for you.

Are you sure the drivers are the latest? I mean as in you have downloaded the latest off Nvidias site. Sorry if this is a stuid question, but some people actually miss to do this.

And also check if any other OpenGL based games work, (Prey and Doom 3 for example).

Well I uninstalled the demo and was busy for a day and didn't touch the computer. Came back, re-installed the thing and it ran fine.
