Help, Please: Box of String - Can't Take Any.

When I saw the box of string (before the electric fence), I knew I'd need to take some... but I'm not able to manipulate it or take any. I read a walkthrough, and it said to take the string.

I cannot move the lid of the box, nor can I select the string, much less take any. All I can do is right click it and it tells me that it's a box full of string.

Please tell me how I can go ANY further without this - it's infuriating.

You need the book of explosives in order to grab it.

If you mean the keg of explosives, I already put that in the hole where it's supposed to go. If you mean the dynamite, I have a stick of that, too.

What am I doing wrong?

ther is a book of explosives that you are supposed to find with ingrediants to explosive go back to the very fisrt part of the mine wander around until you find a door wich leads to a world war two bunker search that room until you find it then grab the string
