Prometheus
Who has seen it? What did you think of it?

I thought it was good but could've been much better. It's like they mashed two different movies together. It isn't as scary as I expected and occasionally the people in the movie act really stupid. With that said, there's a lot going around behind the scenes and there's lots to analyse, you might need to see it more than once to catch everything. The acting is very good and the CGI is gorgeous.

There are several trailers for the movie but they spoil too much of the movie, so don't watch them.

Seen it last night, snuck in. Enjoyed it but quite a few plot holes and as a writer I noticed them and bothered me. Wasn't scary but some of the acting was brilliant, CGI was indeed gorgeous and had some great tense build ups.

RE: Prometheus
Hated it.
Had the feeling Ridley Scott did his own tentacle-porn-hentai movie full of plot holes and wtf situations.
The story had some great themes but none of them were used to their potential. The best part was the first act, simply because it works as a non-official adaptation of At the Mountains of Madness (which was written almost a century ago, so nothing very original in here...)
...
I'll have to give it a second change though, since my mother looooooved it and wants to go and watch it again. Not mentioning that my best friend still hasn't seen it and chances are we will need to discuss about it, as geeks do.

Did voice acting for:
- My Love.
- Painful Shadows.

RE: Prometheus
What bothered me was the characters. Many of them are flat and underdeveloped (Ford, Jackson etc). Sometimes their characterization is inconsistent (Millburn & Fifield). And like I said, sometimes even the well written ones act stupid (Holloway, Vickers in the end)...

With that said, I can't say I found that many plotholes. Sure, there are many WTF moments but most of them made sense to me after thinking about them for a while.

I haven't actually read At the Mountains of Madness, but I do know that there are many references to classic science fiction in the movie.

RE: Prometheus
I don't see how the movie had as many plot holes as people say, I've seen it twice and can only make out one which may have an explanation for itself. Every plot hole people have pointed out on the internet I've had an explanation for. As for the character development, the reason that Millburn and Fifield ran away
Spoiler below!
when they first found the dead carcass was because they were terrified. This is backed up by Fifield's heavy breathing (you can see his visor fogging up). They toughed up after seeing that there's no contagion and that they were stuck in the pyramid during the storm, so they had no choice but to head on. Another example of their fear is when Jackson announced to them that a probe may have picked up life on the West side they went East. Millburn's reason for messing with the alien cobra was that he is a biologist. In that situation if he moved quickly he may have startled the creature and killed him and Fifield. Correct me if I am mistaken, but Millburn is the hipster looking guy, Fifield is the Mohawk guy and Jackson is the pilot.

RE: Prometheus
When I saw the title of the movie I thought they were finally making a movie on how Prometheus came to Earth and brought an evolution machine. He tried to give it to us cavemen (Bob) but we were too stupid, so the monkey figured it out and that's why we evolved from monkeys. c:

RE: Prometheus
I thought it was pretty decent, but didn't care for
Spoiler below!
the way the doctor was instantly up and running again after a laser just cut through her abdominal wall and pulled out an alien
and also the way they decided
Spoiler below!
to not bring any weapons with them, i mean c'mon, who's going to go into an area where there's signs of alien life and not take a weapon.

I also thought some of the emotion of the characters were forced and didn't feel natural. Great atmosphere and effects though.

the way the doctor was instantly up and running again after a laser just cut through her abdominal wall and pulled out an alien Did you see the amount of painkillers she took? Easily 3 during the procedure, around 4 pills afterward while getting Charlie's ring and a few more doses afterward. She could have had her hand cut off and she wouldn't feel it. She was also grunting in pain and doubling over.

to not bring any weapons with them, i mean c'mon, who's going to go into an area where there's signs of alien life and not take a weapon. This is true, but in the beginning they didn't know that there was life. They weren't there to kill aliens, they were there for answers. It just so happens that when the humans went into the storage room they changed the temperature enough to disturb the vases, thus causing the quick mutation of the worms (this theory is backed up by when David went into the ship for the first time and passed the cargo holds full of vases nothing was happening as he is synthetic). They did bring weapons with them when they brought Weyland to see the Space Jockey as it was a confirmed life form.
