I might be wrong but the time you talk to amabel the first time, doesn't she say "and another sympton is deja vu" two times? A sign that she is indeed infected when philip gets there, maybe not so much that she has turned into a zombie but it's still there.

Actually, I think that was meant to suggest that Phil was infected. Deja vu isn't about repeating random things, but recognizing things that you may have heard before.
