Why no Episode 3 ???

No other horror-game is better than PENUMBRA, because the other games don't have a good story or they have too much action and no puzzles.
The dark corridors are better than all other bloody zombies in other games.
And the best is, you only have hammer or pickaxe - or no weapon.

Why no Episode 3 ???

Frictional Games now works on an other game, but an other developer can make Episode 3. Paradox Interactive only have to organize it. When the rights of PENUMBRA are by Paradox Interactive, then they can search for an other developer.

I think that's not impossible.

Because the story ends with Black Plague? I don't want some milked out games a la Final Fantasy, spyro or crash. Oh no.

Black Plague kinda is the end of it. They didn't leave a lot of turning room for additional plot either as the outbreak isn't until a month or something before Philip arrives. Everything before the outbreak is pretty normal and wouldn't work as anything but a novel.
They could make more story about the Archaic, but then it likely wouldn't have any connection to Howard, Philip, the Tuurngait or the Shelter.

Originally, penumbra was planned as 3 episodes. But their original distributor kind of screwed them out of it, and as a result they had to tone it down to 2 games (which is why black plague seems fragmenty at parts, and wraps things up quickly)

So if that hadn't happened, chances are Black Plague would have ended shortly after discovering about your fathers fate, while the third episode would have centered around trying to get to the surface and escape (or something)

Not that I think they should, or would. Penumbra is over and done, I think it's time to let it rest with the two episodes and the expansion. From what I hear, Penumbra has been milked enough with Requiem (never played it though, so that's just what I heard). All you have to do is look at Star Wars to see what too much milkin' can do to the cow.

I'm not sure the details, but the publisher screwed them out of either online sales, or foreign sales. The mods don't like people talking about this, and don't like talking about it themselves.
