I've played the game. I can easily say that there is a big resemblance. Especially game mechanic is very alike Penumbra series. But physic is not as good as Penumbra's. And story-wise, it made me think about "The Shadow over Innsmouth" but then it changed. I can't say I didn't like it, but it's not similar to Penumbra series except having Lovecraft theme.

Keep in mind: game came out on 28 May 2010.

The original HeXen is quite good. I played it a lot back in the day.
