Unplayable framerate

Hi all. I'm trying to run the demo on a machine that should definitely be able to handle it. But when the game gets to the profile screen, the mouse jerks around once per 5 seconds i.e. a framerate of 0.2 fps Entering the game it's the same story if a little worse. Any ideas?

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad 2.40 GHZ
Video Card: Nvidia Geforce 7050
RAM: 3 GB

Try lowering the graphics settings and resolutions a bit.
Make sure you have the latest drivers.
Try and disabled Aero before starting the game.
Check the nvidia control panel so that you are not forcing any settings that could interfere with the game, such as forcing FSAA.

Aero? Hmmm, check the subforum

I will try to run it on the lowest possible settings and see if that helps.

Even with everything at it's lowest settings, its unplayable. Better, but still really really jerky. Maybe the geforce 7050 just sucks too hard

Check and see if you have powermizer turned on. I think there's an issue with powermizer with geforce 7xxx cards to not be able to play this game.

I turned off powermizer as a first resort. I hate that thing (especially on a desktop). Still doesn't work

I had the same problem, and finally tracked it down last night. Disable
Xinerama in /etc/X11/xorg.conf if you are using dual displays. When I had it turned on I was getting about 2fps, tunred it off and restarted X...55fps.

Was hoping this would fix the frame rate problem in penumbra requiem level 9: closure (can't finish the game with 1fps) as well, but it didn't

Hmm... I'll have to try that, as I'm having a similar issue on mine, though it happens even when I only have one monitor on.

7050 is below Minimal Requirements. Similar problem is on Geforce 6100 (little slower than 7050). On GF6100 framerate is ~8 fps (at minimal settings).
