Amnesia Demo Crashes
I have tried everything to get the Amnesia demo running, both on Windows and Linux. I've searched these forums, as well as every other one I could find on the subject out there, but the demo crashes on the loading screen every time, right after the gamma calibration. I have an Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller. I can't find any proprietary drivers for it, and all other open source replacement drivers don't work either. Does this card just not support the game at all? If it helps, my laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1520, with a Centrino processor, and 4GB of RAM. I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx and Windows XP.

The intel graphics cards are not support unfortunately. Only Radeon X1000 and higher, and Nvidia Geforce 6 or higher are supported.

I don't know much about hardware, but I imagine it would take quite a bit of disassembly and reassembly to change out a graphics card in a laptop wouldn't it?

It's most probably impossible as the chip is integrated onto the motherboard. It's not like a desktop where you can swap out the card.

Yeah thought so. That sux. Although I did get the demo for Penumbra up and running, so both those games should keep me busy till I get my next computer. Hate that I have to wait a few years to try Amnesia though.
