Black Plague literally had no effect on me whatsoever because it's backstory is nowhere near as horrifying as Amnesia's. The monsters aren't the real threat to one's sanity in horror games, they're only there for the shock factor.
The real terror is in the story, and how well the story is executed. That's why Amnesia kept me up for weeks, because when you get to the end you find out that your whole escape journey has really been a foul murder plot. That's why maybe the "monsters" in Amnesia aren't as terrifying in your opinion, as the ones in BP, because they sacrificed the terror implement and focused more on story.
