I notice that when I click on the "Buy" link on the main website for Amnesia it shows that the OnLive version now comes with gamepad support. Is this an actual updated version of the game or is there something special about their service itself that provides gamepad support for the game? Is there official support for a gamepad in the Steam version of Amnesia?

That's something OnLive does. Amnesia doesn't officially support gamepad.
