When I bought the game and I had my mom check to make sure it was bought, it was there but when I try to play the game it says "Buy now". If you can help me out with that i wold greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

Where did you purchase the game from? The ''buy now'' is usually connected through stream yeah? This means you've not activated your license key yet.
Go to your games library, and in the bottom left corner of steam there'll be a plus sign with a text that reads + Add a game. Click that and enter your product key.

You can't activate the game through Steam. If the game is showing "Buy now", the person is either confused with another game, or hasn't even gotten to the point of downloading and installing the game and is still on some web page somewhere.
