My brain was not prepared for this story when testing. It was 3 AM when I played it... I needed more sleep after I finished.

A great puzzle map for 24 hours, friend!

I think I'm the only person that had no issues with it, the only time I got stuck was because I missed the note with the combination, it only really took me like 10-15 minutes to get through the whole thing though. I dunno, maybe I'm just more observant with these things Tongue

You ain't alone Smile

RE: Escape - A Puzzling Story - Adny - 08-21-2012

Took me 23 minutes; this was a pretty cool mod. [SPOILERS] Thoughts/review:

Mapping/Detailing: Short on detail, but that is justified through the game play elements; you literally have to inspect everything in the traditional point and click fashion, and if there were even more entities about the player could become easily overwhelmed. Design was nothing fancy (again, justified by the length of the mod).

Lighting/Billboards: Lighting was fine, it was pretty bright to compensate for the fact that you had no lantern/tinderboxes. Billboards were non existent, but only because (from a mapper's stand point) there was no proper way the billboards could have been implemented considering the way the player had to interact with the windows/curtains.

Puzzles: A few were simple, a few more complex. I couldn't figure out the birth day for the combination (which I'm assuming was revealed from the scrambled information on the sticks), but since all of the notes had August on them, I just assumed it was 8. I thought the idea of having a little safe inside the secret mansion-base wall was so darn clever, in the end I was just mad that I hadn't thought of it before Tongue

Story: Kinda sad; the amount of suspense and emotion built up in under 10 letters amazed me. When I recieved the 2nd to last key to the "safe place", I was 99% sure a monster would appear. Then I read the note in the closet and became 100% sure. I'm not sure if that was intentional or just my wandering imagination, but either way, it was quite effective.

All mechanics, design choices and overall atmosphere/ideas considered, I'd give this a 7.5/10*, really good mod. It's a welcomed alteration from all of the jumpscare maps Smile

* = 10/10 being quality of the original game

I finally finished it. Took me about 30 minutes to solve whole "Book madness combination"

I was like first: Damn you, this is too hard! I give up! Undecided Nope. It's pretty hard to solve and you have to think a lot in this. Big Grin

It was short, but great! Another good story by triad. Thanks man! Tongue

I don't think a shoutout works if you don't mention their names Tongue

Nice custom story, I didn't know the first number so I guessed it. I guess it was carved somewhere? It probably had to do with that pasteboard marks thing, but I'm not sure what that means Tongue
