(Black Plague) Computer central lack of text - T_Neumann - 02-12-2009
Hi guys,
This is making me tear my hair out. Guy safely locked away, have red blue and green cards in possession. Put blue card into computer, click on PC and the text doesn't show up. I got away with it earlier on in the game in the kitchen by randomly clicking on the black square and somehow finding out the password to the door.. but I need to be more specific this time obviously and it ain't working.
I checked for a steam update and apparantly everything already is - I remember seeing it update as such a few weeks ago.
I'll provide any info you want, I do have an ATI card, and the only glitch is with the text on the computers. I can't advance through the game unless there's somebody with an elixir for me? :neutral:

Just to check: Are you using a laptop?
Try updating the graphics card drivers and see if that helps.

Yes I am, but drivers are completely up to date, and have been for many months.
There has to be a solution to this?

It would seem a crying shame to stop playing a game/series of such high quality because of it.

Attached a hotfix, unrar and use it instead of the normal exe and see if it works. This is just a quick hack and it was a while since I worked on the code, but hopefully it works!

That's what I call customer service. Thanks a lot. If you could now just tell me what to do with it in more detail.. I'm a bit clueless at extracting and RAR that kind of stuff. Maybe somebody else could help if your too busy?

Winrar is a good choice:

When installed, just double click on the file, a window will open. Drag n drop the file in the window to the folder where the normal penumbra exe is.

As it's on Steam, I stuck it in Steam/SteamApps/common/Penumbra Black Plague.
I tried to run it but it said SDL.dll was not found..?

Put in in the "redist" folder located in/ Steam/SteamApps/common/Penumbra Black Plague/, so that you overwrite the old penumbra.exe(or rename the old penumbra.exe first if you want to save it)
