2009-03 Tuesday 31st, Unknown in-game teaser & screens - jens - 03-31-2009

Helsingborg, Sweden - March 31, 2009
Today we are releasing a first teaser of our upcoming survival horror game, "Unknown". The video gives a quick demonstration of the mood and style we are aiming for, as well as demonstrating the maturity of the in-house developed HPL2 game engine. We have expanded the engine to include tools for testing, creating and editing levels - all of which have been used to create the level in the teaser. The tools are used during the production of the game and are also going to be part of the final release, allowing for end-user content creation.

"Unknown" has recently entered full production and is preliminary scheduled for an early Q2 2010 release.

Looks good. Is this a part of a level taken out of the context of the game or was it made purely for this teaser?
I thought the mood was suitable for when you've just entered the castle: Atmospheric and sinister but not really scary. This teaser also made me wonder for the first time how you're going to make the game seem fresh. I guess after playing Thief 2 fan missions for almost a decade I've gotten used to all sorts of dark castles in disrepair.

What can I say? That teaser got the blood in my veins boiling and all the hairs on my body standing up!

So far, so good.

However, I got one 'bad' thing about it:

Music reminds me too much from Penumbra games...

The score probably has not been done yet :p

Looks very good!

look very complex at first but beautiful on the editor, and a great environment for the shadows/lights effect. So hurry to see the final product in 2010 or before during the beta test hehe
