π - A lot of numbers. Your head may explode - Klayman - 05-23-2009

I wanted to know how many numbers of π is known.
http://ja0hxv.calico.jp/pai/epivalue.html
This is 200bilion digit number of π. Only 1/2000 .zip archives have 57mb. Inside one of it there is 120mb .txt file where is 1milion lines. If you want to open those files use web browser.

Does somebody know where to find more π numbers?

Euhm? What's this? Pi as exact as you can get it, with 200 billion decimals?
Is so that's pretty awesome, though I think I'll keep using 3,14 or whatever.
By the way, how did they pigure pi out? A meter is the poles to the equator split into a million or something like that, but how what's pi?

I did not read it but there is simple animation that can explain you how they calculate "περιφέρεια" (periphery, that is Pi)

You can probably just create a simple program that keeps values of pi and estimates it. Pretty neat, musta taken a long time to acccumulate.

Propably. But I think it is not possible for average computer to calculate that large ammount of numbers. Some special computers should be able to do it. I wonder what is it good for to have that much of numbers.

Hey! I have a very great idea!
Write the entire Pi in one .txt file! Smile:

you know prime numbers that have over 100 digits are considered government property, and can be bought by the government for a nice sum. Tongue: No jokes.
