Still can't play Amnesia / Upside Down / Help? - morrisseyisrad - 01-07-2011

Sad I'm here again to say that I'm still having this upside down problem with Amnesia, the game is absolutely unplayable at the moment and I was wondering if anyone had any information regarding whether a patch or update is in development to counter this issue, or if there is some other fix available. I would love to be able to actually play Amnesia seeing as what I've heard about it so far sounds fantastic. If anyone could help at all it would be greatly appreciated! xxx

This is the penumbra technical support forum. @_@ (edit: oh they moved it ;D)

Try to update your graphics driver if it's not already up to date.

Is your monitor upside-down?

Seriously though, is it? I know you can rotate the display 180 degrees with most graphics card drivers, so if you've done this, then maybe Amnesia isn't picking up on it?

Not the case I'm afraid, thank you for suggesting it though I hadn't thought of that. I should probably have explained this better, what happens is that the solid objects are all upside down and it looks like you're walking on the ceiling, but things like the light from candles, or the light shining in windows - they're still the right way up? It's difficult to explain, it's the same whether you're playing the game or just on the title menu though, really weird! Sorry about this I feel like I'm wasting your time, it really looks like there's nothing that can be done about it xxx

Do you have the same problem with the demo? Or with the Penumbra demo's?
I can install Amnesia on a system with a Radeon HD3850 (do you have this card?) next week and will let you know if it has the same weird bug.
My urge to buy a Radeon card in the future is dropping slowly but surely ... Confused

1. What operating system do you have? Also 32-bit or 64-bit?
2. Is it a laptop or a desktop? If a laptop, what model?
3. Attach me here the file HPL.log found under Documents\Amnesia\Main folder.

I tried the demo on a system with an ATI 3850 and got the upside down screen in the first map. There was also a strange water-like effect while everything was upside down. It was like : normal-upside down-normal-upside down, on and off.
The system : pc, Win XP Home 32-bit, AMD X2 5600+, 2Gb Ram
I included the log file.

Maybe someone should do a good test on Amnesia + ATI 3800's?

[edit]
Someone else on this forum got it fixed by upgrading his vga drivers. I might try this myself.
