Graphics problem - Snowzor - 08-24-2011

Hello!! I've just installed Amnesia The Dark Descent, and I encountered some graphical issue:

Can someone tell me what to do with this?

attach me here the file HPL.log found under Documents\Amnesia\Main folder. Also, what operating system do you have?

RE: Graphics problem - Snowzor - 08-24-2011

Sorry. I've forgot to mention the hardware components:
I'm running on a Dell Inspiron 1545:
Intel Pantium Dual-Core T4200 2.0 Ghz
4 Gb RAM
graphics card: Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family 1.0 Ghz

Does your computer also have a ATI Radeon HD 4330 graphics card?

Try running the game after installing the driver below and restarting afterwards(Windows Vista x86):

I have Windows XP
It's fine. I found the XP one...
It says: "the sistem does not meet the minimum requirements"

no.........

RE: Graphics problem - plutomaniac - 08-24-2011

Install these:

1) http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&releaseid=R255242&SystemID=INSPIRON1545&servicetag=&os=WW1&osl=en&deviceid=18403&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=8&catid=-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=0&libid=1&typeid=-1&dateid=-1&formatid=-1&source=-1&fileid=374167

2) http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&releaseid=R208109&SystemID=INSPIRON1545&servicetag=&os=WW1&osl=en&deviceid=20477&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=1&catid=-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=0&libid=6&typeid=-1&dateid=-1&formatid=-1&source=-1&fileid=291596

3) http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&releaseid=R203389&SystemID=INSPIRON1545&servicetag=&os=WW1&osl=en&deviceid=17043&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=1&catid=-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=0&libid=6&typeid=-1&dateid=-1&formatid=-1&source=-1&fileid=283318

If the 2nd link does install then you do have an ATI dedicated graphics card as well as an Intel embedded one like Dell says for your laptop.

So you do have an AMD card, that's promising I have to say. Can you attach me the HPL.log file again to see if the game detects the AMD one?

Quote:If you get the error "Renderer #0 could not be initialized", try launching the game the default 1024x768 resolution with full screen off. If this works, the most likely cause is that you run out of graphics memory when using higher resolutions. This might be that there is some background application or similar using resources or that simply the graphics card does not have enough. There are two ways to fix this:

1) Enter Display Properties and make sure that the desktop color depth is 32.

2a) Run at lower resolution. Even if you have an LCD screen, there should be no problem running at a resolution such as 1280x768 and have the game still look good. This is probably the best solution to this problem.

2b) Make sure that SSAO and EdgeSmooth are turned off. These two effects use up a lot of graphics memory and turning them off should help a lot.

3) Make sure that you have only a single display set in the graphic card's control panel.

Note that sometimes doing both 2 a and b are needed!
