SteamWorks and Steam Cloud support?

Since game will be available Steam as well and you will give keys for activation on Steam to prepurchasers. Will the game use SteamWorks Support like Steam Achievements or use Steam Cloud for keeping save games, configs etc...? I know it is early but you are thinking about these features or not, I just want to learn. Thank you. Smile

RE: SteamWorks and Steam Cloud support?

We have not started looking into yet how easy SteamCloud would be to add (I have just glanced an intro page on it), but I like the idea would like to add. Perhaps it has to wait after release and come as a patch though as we would rather focus on making the game itself as nice as possible.

Regarding a achievements, we are not sure how fitting they would be in this sort of game. The game's story and atmosphere should be what pulls players in and not some abstract award Smile But then again, we have not decided.

RE: SteamWorks and Steam Cloud support?

Please don't make Steamworks a requirement. Steam Cloud is kinda nice and all, but the ability to play without Steam (offline, on Linux, etc.) is lost.

Like this: Box Version and Digital Download dont need Steam but who wants it on steam can activate it there and get steamworks support! Tongue
But pls no Archivements! Games like Penumbra or Amnesia dont need Archivements. They destroy the feeling ingame when it pop-up.

As much as I like knee-jerk reactions to Steam, it's posts like this that make the rest of us dissenters look bad. Smile

On a related subject, is Impulse::Reactor anywhere near useable? From what I understand it offers some features of Steamworks with no requirements besides an additional DLL.

Why not enable Steam achievements after your first playthrough, or listening to the commentary?

I am sure there are ways to enable achievements without breaking immersion. Is it required to have an effect trigger/happen when an achievement unlocks?

Anyway, I would love my saves to go back and forth between Mac and PC with Steam cloud!
