I tried changing the name of the folder in Docs to Amnesia_OLD with no success. That's no longer an option since there isn't an Amnesia folder any longer in the Docs folder since I tried reinstalling the game.

Re: Administrator mode, I've tried launching the game as an admin from the .exe and the Launcher within the steamapps folder. Is that what you mean, or should I try from safe mode?

EDIT: I see this was already answered in the topic. I'll give it a go.

Re: Secondary Installers. I've tried everything else from the Steam page you linked to, but have searched the Amnesia in steamapps for the installation folder and found nothing, nor any mention of sign of secondary installers. Is it possible for you to give me an exact location? Thanks.

SOLVED

Further online investigation revealed the Avast! Antivirus firewall to be the source of the game's failure to run. Given my previous suggestion I had been sold a faulty product, I'd like to apologise for that incorrect insinuation and suggest any other users experiencing this problem attempt the following steps:

1) Open Avast!
2) Go to 'Real Time Shields', then 'Expert Settings'
3) Go to 'Exclusions'
4) Add the .exes for any games not launching. If you're running from Steam, you may be required to input the entire file location. Either way, Avast asked me if I wanted to run the program normally once the .exe exclusion had been inputted, so I chose the appropriate option and all seems to be working fine now.

Hope that helps.

There are no secondary installers for Amnesia, it's just the game.

There are no antivirus programs or similar running that could cause it?
