I can also confirm that neither of those solutions worked for me.

I reinstalled DirectX and it had no effect. It also worked for me the first time. Something changed, either in Steam, Windows, my ATI drivers, or in AAMFP that caused it to stop working. "XINPUT1_3.dll" refers to the windows controller compatibility program. I think the game may have gotten an update that was to refine the controller setup but has now caused the game to be temporarily broken.
EDIT: Actually, I don't remember why I thought XINPUT1_3.dll had to do with the controller compatibility; I know it has to do with DirectX, but reinstalling DirectX didn't do anything, so I'm lost.
I'd just download XINPUT1_3.dll from some website if I knew it wouldn't be infected.
