Amnesia running WAY too slowly

So I tried downloading Amnesia on my laptop but because it had an integrated fx card I went to my desktop with a GeForce 7050. Everything runs smoothly until I set up the gamma. After that, at the create profile screen everything slows down, essentially freezing. When I alt+tab out/ctrl+alt+delete and shut it down with the task manager, it says the game is not responding. I changed the settings to lowest possible and turned off SSAO but it still runs slowly. The sound and his voice-over in the beginning are fine, but once the game starts it lags a lot.
