Kids & The Internet

In my newspaper yesterday, I read that 50 % of all three-year-olds in Sweden uses the internet and play computer games.

The Article

Personally, I see no reason why a fucking three-year-old should use an iPad. When you're three you should appreciate real life , hang out with friends, be outdoors and have fun until you become an antisocial teenager that hates life.

RE: Kids & The Internet

It's like that in America as well, if not worse. It's the day and age we live in now. Many parents do not know how to BE parents or raise their kids, so they sic electronic babysitters on their kids. It's ultimately up to the parents to stop their kids but most would rather have their kid silent and not moving so they can do whatever they want, rather than give up their hobbies to watch their kid outside or something. I know when I was younger, my dad used to flip the circuit breaker to our rooms if we didn't stop playing Nintendo/Xbox when he said so. Haha. So we went outside.

Parents are hardly "parents" anymore. It's a shame.

But really, children on the internet is never a good thing.
Ever hear anybody say that they like playing with kids on Xbox Live?
Ever hear anybody enjoy having a kid talk during a PC game?
Nah.
Kids won't be prepared for the harshness of the internet. You have to be able to shrug things off as no big deal.

However, as far as playing on an Ipad goes, I think that's just a generation gap. Before I was 1, I was able to work the VCR perfectly so I could watch my shows over and over. I didn't have any game consoles until about the third grade, when my family got a playstation one.
I see no problem with kids playing with this stuff. However, seeing a five year old with a cellphone is rather jimmy rustling.

I started using the internet when I was seven, and I never joined any community until I was 12.

I absolutely should not have used the internet until I was at least 14. I was smart enough to never give away my information, but I was on so many chat rooms I'm surprised I wasn't scarred for life.

I especially hate little kids that play multi-player games and constantly trash talk. Really? I would have had my mouth washed out with soap if my mom ever heard me use those words.

I know my name is a mouthful, use rndy if you like!

That's it? I probably would've gotten slapped in the face and had my xbox thrown out the window. Lol, My dad was not abusive, but he was strict. He never hit me, all he had to do was look at me and yell and I was scared shitless. ;___; He's a big man.

Same here. But even now, if I use a word like that = companion cube to the face.

Even at 15, I still am afraid to use words like that (no swearing on my YT channel, if you look).

I started using the internet at around 12-ish or something. Kids + Internet = bad combo. Lots of strange stuff that kids shouldn't see unless 15 or above (my opinion).

Infrequently active. Don't expect an immediate response. Best to contact me at a different locale. If I create a thread, expect me to be quite active.
