RE: A Horror Game Without Any Music

Music is essential to games that work around it. It's a must if the game is designed to have it.
If a game is designed to not have it, then it will work best without.

Yea, common sense.

If you need it, you need it.
If you don't need it, you don't need it.

Trying is the first step to success.

Interesting topic. I think I will add a level in my my game where the music will just be cut off completely with only some eerie enviromental sounds. Let's see how unnerving it will be for the player to go from the normal ambience to complete silence. Probably the player will anticipate for something very scary to happen so it raises the fear level. But we'll seeWink.

I've seen this pulled off many times successfully. I wouldn't doubt it.

I've been playing Alien: Isolation with the music off recently, it's kinda creepy just listening to all the station sounds and the alien crawling around the vents.

However, I feel this change makes me more aware of the environment than with the music on.

Yeah, I would agree with this.

The music as the alien approaches though, always gets me on edge.
