This is everybody's problem. Motivation never stays constant. However, I don't suggest jumping interests around unless you absolutely despise your current hobby.

For writing, it's important to have self insight. What motivated you to write the story, and why did you stop? The way I see it, if any more than an hour of your day is spent not being productive, you can convert that time into hobby time (the remaining hour can just be quiet reflection, or deciding what to do next). It's not actually important to be motivated all the time - that's impossible - but rather to maintain constant work ethic. Just keep at it and eventually your novel will be done.

The reason being I need more practise, learn more grammar rules and fill more my vocabulary, which is thin as a needle. I learn slowly and forget things fast, that is also one thing making things even more complicated.
I've already had a year learning curve, and still a lot of things I manage to write turn out not so promising.
It's not like I suffer from blank paper syndrome, I've actually thought a lot of interesting stuff, which needs to be written. But my inexperience is limiting it horribly, despite how much and how long I've been practising. I've even thought that maybe I lack talent and sense towards the whole hobby.

At least you can work a good analogy! Maybe you'll say that's a common expression in Finnish, but to me it's a beautiful simile.

Ways I have changed...

I am now happily married. I mean, I was married before, but not happily. That was already over 3 years ago and me and my other half were dating, now we're married and it's great.

I'm more confident, in my skills and goals, but also in myself. I got me some self esteem, which is a new and unusual experience.

I'm also considerably fatter, but meh.

In the past 3 years I have been able to finish off school, having a work for a little time, started another school, met the love of my life and after that generally been much happier about my own life altogether. Although life still sucks sometimes, but I guess that's normal.

Waiting for 2017...

RE: How have you changed in the past 3 years?

the ability to develop trust or form an actual friendship has, unlike before, greatly diminished. I still find it very easy to socialise but being social with someone is different than reaching some sort of bond.

Games bore me, I try to bring myself to do some gaming or spend time on the internet but it's all just so meh, feels like I'm forcing myself. I do spend a lot more time at certain clubs, which is slowly starting to feel like an addiction. It's not the drinking nor smoking (perhaps a small part of it). It just feels good to go somewhere to relax, have loud music bang away at your ears while you take in the atmosphere, I guess it would already be logical to assume I use it to escape some sort of trouble and i'm not gonna deny that.

oddly enough, the new turn in my life has made me quite more open minded and understanding of certain things happening around me, even though my school grades are dropping down to the point I'm failing almost every next exam; So while i'm not making much progress at the education system, I've been soaking in different kind of knowledge - one you dont learn on the internet or behind a desk

Sorry but we cannot change your avatar as the new avatar you specified is too big. The maximum dimensions are 80x80 (width x height)

The good things about The University of Life are that you can set your own deadlines, change your subject whenever you like and there are no final exams. You never exactly graduate, but the lessons you learn get easier over time.

I have become much more open to my logical thinking side, I am 20% less of a bitch and 30% less shy.

I am however still a bitch and over-care for people I shouldn't care about and am still way to extremely shy in public because of the former problem.
