Ten years ago Amnesia: The Dark Descent heralded a new generation of horror. Five years ago, SOMA took us to fresh depths of terror. Now, steel yourself for the next nightmare as we at Frictional Games prepare to release Amnesia: Rebirth this autumn. A new story set in the world of Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Rebirth represents yet another evolutionary leap for Frictional Games, challenging players to remain calm in the face of unimaginable terror.
Get a glimpse of what’s to come in today’s announcement trailer and first in-game images.
Amnesia: Rebirth is a new descent into darkness in the iconic Amnesia series. Set in the desolate landscape of the Algerian desert, the game will focus on new character Tasi Trianon as she sets out on a harrowing journey through devastation and despair, personal terror and pain, while exploring the limits of human resilience.
You can’t let out a breath. The creature is only inches away. Its sole purpose – to feed off your terror. And so you crouch in the dark, trying to stop the fear rising, trying to silence what lies within you.
Retracing Tasi’s journey and pulling together the fragments of a shattered past will be the only chance to survive the pitiless horror that threatens to devour you. Time is against you. Still, you must continue, step by step, knowing that if you fail you will lose everything.
Amnesia: Rebirth is scheduled for release in autumn 2020 on PC and PlayStation 4. Wishlist on Steam in order to follow along with the updates as they are released.

This is exciting news! Any plans for Mac or Linux versions?
The Steam page lists Mac and Linux versions so it looks promising! Hopefully Frictional will confirm.
Look at the listing on Steam. Windows, Mac, and Linux are all listed under system requirements.
SOO excited for this! Frictional is back!
Grunts are back
I’m so excited to play it especially that today we have better graphics
Looking forward to the new awesome game!)
Amnesia Rebirth is the one that I want to play this year.
Anxiously waiting!!!

So excited about this game!
P.S. I wonder whether the second project is still being worked on.
So glad this is happening
Do not you plan to release on Xbox?
Where can I drop off my money?
They’ll coming.They’ll back.I’m so exciting.Go!Go!Go!Frictional Games.
i hope it will have a level editor
It will!
An Amnesia sequel! And it takes place in a desert!! Maybe more stories in Algeria? I’ve waited so long for this!
Which engine does this game use? HPL3, HPL4 or even a third-party engine like Unity-Engine?
I would like HPL3 or 4, if you have developed a HPL4 engine.
The game will run on HPL3.5.
I saw there needs to be 50 gigabytes of available space for this game. It’s gonna be huge!
I was waiting for this moment for so long! :))
In autumn 2020 (november, in my opinion), prepare to be hunted by the Shadow
Not VR?
Are you kidding me?!
🙁
I fell in love with FG through playing SOMA a few years ago and couldn’t wait to see what they came up with next. Amnesia Rebirth looks amazing. I’m so excited I’m going to go play the original Amnesia for the first time!
Hi, I’m a long time fan of your games and I own all of them. However, aside from the first section of Penumbra: Overture and the part in the beginning of SOMA before waking up in the dark decrepit building, I haven’t played any of your games at all. Will you ever make a game that isn’t scary so that I can enjoy at least one of your creations? I think I will try SOMA in Safe Mode, but it will probably turn out to be too much for me.
They are working on a non-horror game as well.
Super HYPE!! I knew you guys wouldn’t disappoint. 🙂
wait not on xbox ? omg i hope so amnesia is my number one favorite horror game ..
We are looking to release on Xbox later down the line, but due to resources can only provide the game on PC and PS4 on launch.
Am I the only one who thinks it’s lame to see Frictional returning to the Amnesia franchise? Did SOMA really flop that hard financially that such a return to tried and tested waters is necessary? There might be other reasons for the return but I am sure it’s not because of a lack of creativity, you guys are better then this.
Although I am still hyped and of course will still buy the game (on PS4) .. I’m just a little disappointed, I guess.
Maybe they still have stories to tell in the Amnesia franchise. Has that ever crossed your mind?
Don’t forget about nintendo switch please!
